Amergis is Hiring a Remote Remote Tutor Educator

The Tutor is responsible for assisting servicerecipientsinmeetingtheireducationalgoalsandaspirationsthroughpositiveeducationalsupportanddirecttutoring.Alsoresponsibleforenhancingstudyskillsandfacilitate theunderstanding ofeducationalconcepts.The Tutormayalsoworkone-on-onewithchildrenwithAutisticDisorder(AD),PervasiveDevelopmentalDisorder NotOtherwiseSpecified (PDDNOS),Asperger’sDisorder(AS)andChildhoodDisintegrative Disorder(CDD). Ifapplicablepertheprogram theTutorimplementsthe BehaviorSupportPlan(BSP)designedandmaintainedbya BehavioralSupervisorandgathersquantifiablebehavioraldatanecessaryfortheBehavioralSupervisorto evaluatethe effectiveness oftheBPinachievingidentifiedgoalsandobjectives.
Responsibilities
  • If applicableper theprogram will provideABA(Applied Behavior Analysis)basedtherapy toindividuals diagnosedwithautism
  • Workson increasing sociallysignificantskills (language,social,self-help) and decreasingmaladaptivebehaviors (ifapplicable)
  • Demonstrates supportof educationaloutcomes for service recipients supported
  • In accordancewith individual educational goals,providetraining and/or assistancetoensuregrowthtoward goals
  • Listensto and responds to theneedsofservicerecipients,parents/guardians,area programstaff,and agency management
  • Assists servicerecipients
    • Todevelop and/ormaintain a structured study plan
    • Toimproveandmaintain self-confidencein theacademicenvironment
    • With ensuring acalm and quietstudy environment
    • In thedevelopmentof adaptiveandeffectivecoping skills withacademicrelatedanxiety
    • With accessto communityresources thatassistrecipients with educational/academicgoals
    • Torealizetheir educationaland vocational goals and help attain academicoutcomes
  • UtilizeStateSpecificCoreCurriculumContentStandards in every tutoring sessionand documentappropriatelyin tutor progress note (if applicableper state working in)
  • Completes allmandatedsupervision and training and maintain asrequired
  • Communicates ina professionalmanner with servicerecipients,employers,parents/guardians,area program staff,andagencystaff
  • Required day to day contactwithservicerecipients, parents/guardians,area programstaff,andagencymanagement,bothface-to-face and/or by telephone
  • Advocates forservice recipients in all situations
  • Abidebyall agencypoliciesand procedures
  • Performs job dutiesin accordancewithagency mission and values
  • Performsother duties asassigned
  • Ability toworkas amember of ateam,tocomplete tasks as instructed,bereceptivetonewideas, and be creative in solvingproblems.

TheTutorpositionisprogramspecific.Thebelow minimum requirements are to bemetbased onthetypeof positionandthe program beinghiredon for.

Minimum Requirements for Basic Tutor (per program specifications):

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Abilitytoeffectivelyelicit/provide informationtoandfromappropriateindividuals(including,butnot limitedto,supervisors,co-workers,clients)viastrongcommunicationskills; proficiencyintheEnglishlanguagemayberequired
  • Computer proficiencyrequired
  • Must be 21 yearsof age orolder and havenohistory of abuse,neglect,orexploitationof childrenorvulnerableadults
  • At leastoneyearof documented experiencewith tutoring or teaching children,preferably withbehavioral, emotional,or learning issues
  • Reliable transportation(including valid driver’slicense,insurance,vehicleregistration, andacceptable driving recordwithin companyinsurance guidelines)is highlypreferred so servicerecipientscan be transported if needed
  • Mustcompletecriminalbackground andother pre-hirerequirements
  • StatespecificTeaching Certificate(ifapplicableperstateworking in)
