Job Description

Job title: Mounting Technician
BG/BU: AFNA - Flexibles North America 
Location: Yuba City
Job family: Operations
Reports to (Title): Production Manager 
1. Job Overview

Mounting Technician is responsible for examining work orders, and production schedules. Mounter must prepare and place cylinders, mandrels, and sleeves on mounter, this includes laying backing cutting for different lengths, laying on sleeve, then mounting of plate, operating computer to send to appropriate press, stripping plates off plate sleeves, cleaning plate in plate washer, filing plates, and cleaning of sleeves. The Mounter role includes manufacturing all the necessary plates and have them all staged and ready for mounting each job according to the press schedule. The Mounting Technician must work safe and efficient with their main focuses on safety of themselves and their co-workers in and out of their departments, and to improve on safety, quality, and production at the facility.
2. Job Dimensions

• Verify plate orders then pull plate orders from BICO and check them out when completed.
• Operate CDI imager and pull graphics from V drive. Crop plates to utilize as much photopolymer possible to keep waste down to a minimum.
• Operate exposure machine, thermal processer, and lamp table.
• Inspect plates for graphics defects.
• Carefully cut plates to fit sleeves without cutting out graphics artwork and guiding marks such as micro dots, eye line and eye marks.
• Meetly pack plates with foam, label by print specification and plate color. Then deliver to mounting machine.
• Verify all plates are on hand for job.
• inspect plates for defects: cracks, missing dots, surface damage, etc. and ensure plate surfaces are clean.
• Ensure each plate "floor" is scribed or identifies w/item description, color, and customer item code.
• Verify all plates correspond w/ "up to date" color key separations and match each plate to corresponding color key.
• Underlay plate areas if necessary.
• Plates Prepared: Clean back (Mylar side) of plates w/ alcohol (remove residue)
• Prepare/cut eyeline(s) and job number and place in job pouch.
• Using black “permanent marker”, mark the edges of plates as necessary.
• Stack plates back-to-back separated by foam.
• Stage job ticket, layout sheet, prepared plates, and color key for mounting
• Strip sleeves and inspect for damaged before returning to inventory for storage.
• Prepare plates to store.
• Punctuality and adherence to the company attendance policy and essential

3. Principal Accountabilities

• Confirm correct artwork and/or copy. IF DISCREPANCIES ARE FOUND, NOTIFY LEAD/SUPEVISOR OR MANAGEMENT.
• Cut Plates to fit sleeves. Accurately and carefully not to cut off vital markings.
• To be aware of, adhere to and help to improve all safety standards and procedures.

• To be aware of, adhere to and help to improve all production standards and procedures.
• Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
• Has a good understanding of current operating standards and practices. Willingly learns and applies new standards and practices.
• Willing to learn and apply new skills.
• Able to understand and make accurate measurements. Has basic, high school-level math skills. Able to read, comprehend and follow verbal or written instructions in English.
• Has basic computer skills.
• Understands and complete all paperwork related Mounting operations.
• Can set up jobs on Mounting equipment to the ordered specifications.
• Able to troubleshoot operational issues with the Mounting equipment.
• Have a strong focus on quality. Understand and perform all quality checks. Can identify and eliminate quality defects.
• Completes tasks and produces quality product in a timely manner.
• Participates in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Works with co-workers and management in a positive and constructive manner

4. Major challenges & complexities
• Photopolymer Plate Preparation: Review job ticket, color keys and layout sheets to ensure that all information specifications, and special instruction and comments correspond w/ layout sheet, and color keys and job tickets.

6. Qualifications/Requirements
6.1 Formal Qualifications and Experience

Knowledge and Experience
• Experience and proficiency in the function, mechanics, and operation of some or all mounting and plating equipment.
• Good understanding of the safety, quality, and production standards of Yuba City
Education and Certifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent
6.2 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviours

• Knowledge of and ability to operate some or all Mounting and plating equipment at Yuba City
• Must be able to flex hours to support multi-shift operation.
