Job DescriptionJob Title: Human Resources Generalist
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: Human Resources Manager

PurposeUnder the direction of the Human Resources Manager and in accordance with division policies, practices and requirements, the position is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruitment/selection, onboarding, benefit programs, employee relation programs, training, performance management, policy implementation, affirmative action, and employment law compliance.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesRecruits, interviews, and recommends candidates for hourly, non-exempt positions at the plant level. Follows all company procedures and guidelines for selection of hourly paid job vacancies including the appropriate background checks. Performs new hire orientation to Company policies and procedures, benefit programs and plant rules to assure full understanding of conditions and benefits of employment. Responsible for completing and maintaining all documentation required by the Company and/or governmental agencies. Processes all new-hire paperwork to ensure all federal regulations are satisfied and employees receive benefits with no delays. Counsels employees (and potential employees/applicants) on benefit plan provisions so that individuals can make informed benefit decisions. This includes all levels of employees. Serves as the initial contact for employee uniform vendors, responsible for ordering and terminating services. Maintains all human resources files in an organized, accurate and up-to-date manner. This includes self-audits of all files, records, and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with all legal requirements. Serves as primary contact with temporary employment agencies in filling temporary workforce requirements. Maintains close contact with all employees to have an accurate sense of employee morale and attitudes. Follow-up to employee questions in a timely manner. Maintains employee relations programs including Marlin Boards, service awards, birthday/anniversary, perfect attendance program, and bulletins boards. Coordinates plant celebrations. Makes recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is in consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations and/or government law. Administers and monitors the hourly performance evaluation program and revises as necessary. Administers and tracks company leave policies in correlation to FMLA, Short-term Disability and Long-term Disability Maintains Human Resource records in UltiPro and compiles reports from database as needed. Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential. Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Champions employee activity committee and events. Assists Human Resources Manager with other duties and tasks as required.
EducationBachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations, Business, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills And ExperienceTwo years of HR generalist experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills and presentation proficiency
Organizational/time management skills
Must be detail oriented
Problem Solving/Analysis capabilities
Decision making skills, along with ability to understand pertinent laws, are critical
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
Strong working proficiency in UltiPro or comparable HRIS system.
Basic working proficiency in Kronos or comparable timekeeping system
Excellent teamwork skills
Able to multi-task, prioritize work efficiently and adapt to changing duties.
PHR or SHRM-CP a plus
