Job Description SUMMARY Operates and maintains associated machinery required to support the ISB molding process to produce and audit PET plastic containers. Supports downstream processes. Performs process set-up, preventative maintenance and changeovers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Follows all established safety rules and guidelines. Understands and communicates all hazards and safety issues to co-workers and managers/supervisors. Properly uses all personal protective equipment. 2. Must complete all required clean room training and maintain compliance at all times. 3. Maintains standard production objectives through proper machine operation and accurately records production. 4. Knows and practices safe and proper start-up and shut-down procedures for each machine. 5. Operates clean room machinery including laser dating systems, leak detection systems, RPAC and all Seetech machinery using written work instructions, visual management, and computer interface. 6. Conducts quality inspections using specific written and visual guidelines. 7. Monitors operations of ISB machines and all downstream equipment to detect machine malfunctions. 8. Inspects product for quality defects. Has authority to stop machines and production to report malfunctions to the maintenance technician, quality technician, and/or supervisor. 9. Performs minor adjustments to the machines to correct improper functions. 10. Performs preventive maintenance on machines. 11. Scans and consumes production tickets using computer interface. 12. Accurately completes all logs, data input and written, to include quality checks and downtime. 13. Removes any damaged material from machine. 14. Assembles packaging to be used for storage and transport of finished product. 15. Operates pallet jack and forklift to move finished product from machine to the staging area. 16. Effectively communicates with all internal departments. 17. Relieves maintenance technician during breaks. 18. Performs and maintains housekeeping of all assigned areas. This includes applying Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to meet plant goals. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION High School diploma or general education (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS A valid forklift certification, which meets OSHA requirements, is required to perform the essential duties of this job. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk for 12 hours, and is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop and kneel, and climb stairs. Regularly uses hands to handle and feel product. The employee is regularly required to communicate with other employees and be aware of sounds in the plant. The employee must also frequently lift and/or move 70 pounds. Ability to differentiate colors and good peripheral vision. WORK ENVIRONMENT Job is performed near moving mechanical parts and occasionally in high, precarious places. Safety glasses are required to be worn. The noise level is loud, requiring hearing protection to be worn. GMP procedures are observed in all areas of the plant. AUTHORIZATION 1. Ability to shut down any machine if it poses an imminent danger to employee’s health and/or safety. 2. Ability to shut down any machine because of a quality problem so suspect material can be contained. 3. Ability to shut down any if it is down three times in one hour for the same mechanical problem.
