Job Description
As a member of the Leadership Team, the Logistics Manager, manages planning, customer service, scheduling and Shipping and Receiving functions to ensure contractual requirements and production schedules of customers are met. Acts as the main liaison between existing and potential customers and plant to formulate and maintain business strategy to develop and maintain customer accounts.
The role of this person is full commitment to excellence in OHSE and Quality. The goal is to protect and promote the environment, health and safety of all employees and the community in which we operate. This position also is committed to quality through each employee, our system and in our processes and products.
Maintains vendors and responsible for packaging materials, direct and indirect, to include, but not limited to: pallets, board, corrugated, slip sheets, Lantech stretch wrap, banding and strapping, packing tapes, cores, corner protectors, case trays, labels and labelling materials, etc.
Forecast customer demand and schedule customer orders to meet required shipment dates of finished goods. Order and maintain raw stock inventories to ensure orders can be completed and shipped as contracted.
Facilitates all scheduling meetings.
Develop supply strategies and material cost initiatives. Will be instrumental in the purchasing and pricing management, including negotiation, pricing, sourcing, market analysis and inventory control.
Manage the Shipping and receiving department by providing guidance and coaching to clearly define and communicate the customer’s expectations and promoting positive employee relations.
Receive and communicate all pertinent information from customer in order to produce the order within all customer specifications.
Manage customer approvals to ensure minimum disruption and ultimate customer satisfaction.
Participate as an active member of the Leadership Team to support process improvements, new innovations in manufacturing, development of sales and marketing strategies and overall business objectives of the business.
Understand the OHSE and Quality policies, procedures, and actively support the policies and implement the guiding principles in everyday activities.
Any and all other assignments and projects as may be required.
Qualifications/Requirements
B.S. Degree in Sales, Business Administration or related field and a minimum of five (5) years experience in Shipping and Receiving or. 10 plus years experience in Shipping and Receiving within the Tobacco and/or Flexible Printing Industry in lieu of education.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviours
Extensive knowledge of Gravure, printing processes, and scheduling/planning.
Have excellent organizational and time management skills.
Proven leadership abilities embracing Servant leadership philosophies
Conduct training, reward and recognition, motivation and disciplinary measures.
Excellent communication, both written and verbal, required.
Advanced Excel skills, as well as various scheduling software programs.
Physical Requirements
This position may require prolonged periods of sitting, stooping, standing, and/or reaching, balancing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching with hands and arms, hearing and speaking.
Use of close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus.
Manual dexterity is required.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
Be able to travel domestically and internationally.
