Amazon is Hiring a Senior Technical Program Manager, Project Kuiper Satellites Near Bellevue, WA

DESCRIPTION

Have you ever wanted to be part of a team who is building industry changing technology? Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
In Project Kuiper Enterprise Technology, we build the software, services, and infrastructure that enable our program to design and engineer the future of LEO Satellite based broadband services. Our team succeeds when the entire Project Kuiper organization can scale as needed to be successful.
As a Senior Technical Program Manager on this team, you will lead the technical planning, coordination, and implementation of multiple programs across this new initiative. You will manage the lifecycle (architecture, design, implementation, documentation and measurement) of the teams that are delivering for the programs you manage.
You will work alongside other Program Managers, Product Managers, and Engineers to drive key business initiatives. Collaborate with teams across Amazon on the planning and execution of complex and highly-technical projects with high impact and visibility.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead and/or contribute to multiple initiatives in various stages of development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize product and feature requirements across Software, Hardware, networking, MCAD, ECAD, Manufacturing, and SAP domains.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget.
- Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals.
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Manage escalations or mis-alignments when there are risks to delivering committed services with high quality; manages tradeoff decisions with key stakeholders.
- Work with stakeholder teams to determine the appropriate escalation, review process, and resolution for delivery blockers.
- Communicate project status and updates to stakeholders and senior leadership.

About the team
To enable production, the Kuiper Builder Enablement and Engagement organization provides infrastructure, IT and builder support to all Kuiper engineering and service teams. As individual teams we provide subject matter expertise that enables Kuiper Engineers to design and build best in class , from LRU rack design and provisioning to PCBA release , we traverse the full suite of services. As an organization, we are the schema connecting Kuiper Engineering teams to production.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3 years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
- 5 years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
- 5 years of analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentations experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience leading highly technical programs involving infrastructure, complex systems, systems engineering
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
