DESCRIPTION
AWS AI Research and Education is looking for world class scientists to join the group working on inter-disciplinary applications of AI in the domains of biological and material sciences. The ML for Sciences group seeks to close the loop from scientific experiments to ML and back to experimentation driving new scientific hypotheses and discoveries. The group will develop innovative approaches in deep learning, graph neural network modeling, fusing modalities and incorporating domain constraints. You will interact closely with our customers and with the academic community. You will be at the heart of a growing and exciting focus area for AWS and work with other acclaimed engineers and world famous scientists.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
New York, NY, USA
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD, or Master's degree and 5 years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
- Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
- Experience programming in Java, C , Python or related language
- Experience in developing and deploying end-to-end machine learning solutions applied to business and/or science domains.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related disciplines with a thesis focused on applied ML
- 4 years technical leadership role in machine learning, inter-disciplinary science or related areas.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks such as Pytorch, TensorFlow
- Research experiences related to machine learning, deep learning, NLP, CV or GNN.
- Published and/or presented papers at ACL, NAACL, KDD, ICML, NeurIPS, AISTATS, CVPR or similar top-tier conferences and events.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $222,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
