You will have an opportunity to lead, invent, and design tech that will directly impact every customer across all AWS services. AWS Applications and Higher Level Abstractions (Apps) provides horizontal and industry vertical applications for business users with the same on-demand scalability, reliability, pay-as-you-go pricing, and machine learning expertise that drive AWS services. The AWS Applications group includes services such as Amazon Connect (a cost-effective cloud contact center), our End User Computing (including Amazon Workspaces, AppStream, etc.), Marketing Tech (Amazon Pinpoint), and Autonomous Checkout and Biometric Identity Services (Just Walk Out, Amazon One) for retail, sports, travel, and other verticals.
Key job responsibilities
- Deliver real world production systems at AWS scale.
- Work closely with the business to understand the problem space, identify the opportunities and formulate the problems.
- Use machine learning, data mining, statistical techniques, Generative AI and others to create actionable, meaningful, and scalable solutions for the business problems.
- Analyze and extract relevant information from large amounts of data and derive useful insights.
- Work with software engineering teams to deliver production systems with your ML models
- Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation and model implementation

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years of building machine learning models for business application experience
- PhD, or Master's degree and 6 years of applied research experience
- Experience programming in Java, C , Python or related language
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.
- Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark etc.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
