Alzheimer's Association is Hiring a Program Manager Near Southfield, MI

The Program Manager is responsible for outreach to the community to expand awareness of dementia and the Alzheimer's Association, including to the Jewish community in metro-Detroit.This position is also responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with community partners and agencies, as well as the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of agency programs through direct and volunteer provided services.The Program Manager reports to the Director of Program Services.
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Identify strategies and best practices in order to promote education and awareness of dementia, the Alzheimer's Association, including available services to the Jewish community.
  • Identify and develop new relationships with organizations and community leaders in surrounding communities to assist in providing outreach and programming.
  • Develop, coordinate and facilitate meetings and programs.
  • Prepare and conduct community presentations to increase knowledge of dementia and Association programs and services.
  • Conduct individual client and group meetings.
  • Provide information, support, and referrals related to the identified needs of clients.
  • Develop and maintain client referral materials and brochures.
  • Participate in Association work groups, community coalitions and advocacy groups.
  • Maintain working relationships and a referral base through networking with other professionals.
  • Represent the Alzheimer's Association at public forums, conferences, and media events; function as an advocate representing the Alzheimer's Association in the community.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Gerontology/Aging Studies or a related field
  • 2-4 years professional experience in program development, planning, and implementation
  • 2-4 years of professional experience in community outreach preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Familiarity with Alzheimer's and related dementias, and/or aging and health issues strongly preferred.
  • Ability to represent the Association effectively to community partners, community leaders, corporate partners.
  • Able to identify and cultivate relationships with community partners/organizations and diverse populations to create sense of urgency related to dementia awareness as a major health issue and motivate all to action
  • Proven experience in community service development and sustained program integration.
  • General knowledge of community-based organizations and systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Zoom, and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to carry up to 25lbs of equipment and supplies.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation and ability to travel by car throughout the Chapter area with occasional evening and weekend hours to meet community needs.
  • Travel, including evening and weekend work required.
