POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

The Engineering Technician will provide technical support services for the Battle Force Tactical Network (BFTN) system. This includes BFTN system back fit and forward fit production efforts, system issue replication, upgrades, verification and testing to validate Fleet changes and fixes to deployed Battle Force Tactical Network systems.

• Work in Government lab, and field support/shipboard sites to configure, troubleshoot, test, and verify proper operation of Navy Battle Force Tactical Network (BFTN) systems using HF and UHF communication systems.
• Develop, test, evaluate, troubleshoot, verify, and maintain High Frequency (HF) and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) communications system Program of Record providing ship-to-ship line-of-sight (LOS) and beyond LOS (BLOS) networking and relay to shore sites.
• Perform system configuration, diagnostics, repairs, and verification in CONUS and OCONUS Government facilities (approximately 3%-5% travel).
• Prepare documents related to system functionality and testing in support of assigned duties.
• Execute tests and analysis in accordance with test plan guidance.
• Develop / review system interconnect drawings.
• Develop / fabricate prototype devices in support of research and development and fleet support.
• Support System Operational Verification Tests (SOVTs) as well as testing and training for System Operational Tests (SOTs), Deploying Group Systems Integration Testing (DGSIT), and Composite Training Unit Exercises (COMPTUEXs) aboard US Navy ships.
• Provide technical support to sailors and/or support personnel (fleet support engineering team, afloat training group, etc.) on the troubleshooting and maintenance of BFTN and Navy HF and UHF communication system.
• Develop / fabricate prototype devices in support of research and development and fleet support.
• Perform cabling and re-cabling of 19” equipment racks; restore software from (government furnished) restore media.
• Perform routine and as required maintenance per available Planned Maintenance System (PMS) documentation on Navy HF and UHF communication systems.
• Provide the status of assigned tasks via both prepared and ad hoc oral briefings to customer and project manager.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience:

• Security Clearance REQUIRED: Must already possess and be able to maintain, at a minimum, a SECRET Security Clearance.
• Pursuant to the Government Contract, you must be a U.S. Citizen.
• The proposed Electronics Technician shall have four plus (2 ) years of recent experience in a Navy C4ISR environment.
• Must have experience and demonstrate In-Service sustainment engineering functions (e.g. configuration, evaluation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance) of electronic equipment and systems; support the Life Cycle requirements; and providing technical support for Navy C4ISR.
• Must have a solid understanding of communications theory and techniques.
• Perform system configuration, diagnostics, repairs and verification in CONUS and OCONUS Government facilities (approximately 3%-5% travel).
• Experience in the use of multi-meters, o-scopes, spectrum analyzers and associated test equipment. Develop, test, evaluate, troubleshoot, verify and maintain High Frequency (HF) and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) communications system Program of Record providing ship-to-ship line-of-sight (LOS) and beyond LOS (BLOS) networking and relay to shore sites.
• Education: Requires Formal technician training or equivalent military experience.

• Must be able to work in a team and as an individual with minimal direction.
• Must be able to work aboard military vessels both at pier-side and while underway.
• Must be able to carry 35 to 50 pounds

Education:

• High School diploma or GED; Vocational training commensurate with Department of Labor functional description or prior military training.
