As a Facility Maintenance Technician, your primary responsibility is to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of all facilities within the organization. You will perform a variety of tasks related to the upkeep and repair of buildings, equipment, and systems to create a safe, functional, and comfortable environment for employees and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Routine Maintenance:
Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs.
Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other systems.
Address minor repairs promptly to prevent escalation of issues.
Equipment Maintenance:
Maintain and repair various equipment and machinery within the facility.
Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions to determine the appropriate course of action.
Coordinate with external vendors for specialized equipment servicing.
Carpentry and Building Repairs:
Repair and replace doors, windows, flooring, and other building components.
Perform basic carpentry work, such as framing and drywall repairs.
Ensure that the building's structural integrity is maintained.
Plumbing and Electrical Work:
Repair and maintain plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and water heaters.
Troubleshoot and fix electrical issues, such as wiring problems and faulty outlets.
Install and replace lighting fixtures and switches.
Groundskeeping:
Maintain outdoor spaces, including landscaping, parking lots, and sidewalks.
Snow removal and de-icing during inclement weather.
Perform regular inspections for safety hazards.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations in all maintenance activities.
Identify and report potential safety hazards promptly.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure a safe working environment.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
Generate reports detailing work performed and any identified issues.
Provide input for budget planning related to facility maintenance.
Emergency Response:
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance situations.
Work with emergency services and first responders when necessary.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or vocational training is a plus.
Proven experience in facility maintenance or a related field.
Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to operate and maintain various tools and equipment.
Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
