The Production Supervisor is accountable for die cast or machining supervision, production volume, product quality, equipment utilization, work force efficiency, environmental policies, continuous improvement and a safe departmental work environment so as to achieve division manufacturing goals and objectives.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage manpower to achieve EBITDA targets and PMP targets.
  • Plans shift manufacturing operations; maximizes employee efficiency and machine utilization to assure timely production of quality parts.
  • Motivates, organizes, instructs and otherwise assists shift personnel in the performance of their work to achieve production and performance goals.
  • Anticipates production and quality problems and when feasible, develops and implements solutions to offset lost man-hours and unscheduled production interruptions.
  • Maintains the communication link between management and hourly employees; provides consistent and fair application of performance standards while achieving the high morale level needed to maintain non-union status.
  • Provides for information exchange with other shifts and departments to aid in achieving plant production and quality goals. Submits daily shift pass down with production and scrap information, as well as status of critical projects and launches.
  • Assists in development of subordinates for promotional opportunities.
  • Drives continuous improvement on the production floor by holding accountability for expectations of 5S, housekeeping, standard work, value creation and other activities for plant metrics, including correct daily EPS information.
  • Monitor product in-process, maintain records and coordinate effects to ensure completion to schedule.
  • Control inventory levels in order to minimize inventories and yet meet customer product requirements.
  • Drives operational performance to improve and achieve key measurable performance objectives.

Supervisory Responsibilities Responsible for supervising all direct and indirect labor on the shift. Monitors employee safety, quality, and performance to ensure achievement of hourly and shift goals. Coaches and mentors employees to develop a cross-trained workforce with clear developmental objectives.

Requirements

  •  Associates (A.A.) degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school, or two to four years related experience and/or training; an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable. Lean Manufacturing Certification or training, experience with implementation of Lean Philosophies and Methods, Six Sigma, Problem Solving Training or related experience.
  • Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret various graphs.
  • Computer Skills: Computer literate, Excel, Word, Plex.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
