Position Overview:

Alterman, Inc. is currently seeking a Buyer. This position will be responsible for working directly with Project Managers, Project Engineers and Foremen to purchase, expedite and monitor the status of commodity construction materials and supplies for assigned projects.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Sources, selects, and negotiates with suppliers to procure electrical materials, components, and equipment required for construction projects.
• Processes material requests in an efficient and effective manner.
• Evaluates supplier performance based on quality, cost, reliability, and delivery timelines.
• Follows up on orders ensuring that materials are shipped and delivered as requested.
• Develops and maintains relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
• Coordinates with Project Managers and other stakeholders to understand material requirements and project timelines.
• Analyzes market conditions to assess present and future material availability and cost.
• Conducts market research to stay updated on industry trends, new products, and pricing fluctuations.
• Monitors inventory levels and manages stock to minimize shortages and excesses.\
• Collaborates with the finance department to ensure accurate and timely processing of purchase orders, invoices, and payments.
• Implements cost-saving strategies without compromising on quality or project timelines.
• Resolves supply chain issues, including shortages, delivery delays, and quality discrepancies, in a timely manner.
• Stays abreast of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to electrical materials and equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience as a Buyer or Purchasing Agent, preferably in the electrical contracting industry, required.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
• Certification in purchasing or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPIM, CPM) is a plus.
• Familiarity with electrical materials, equipment, and construction processes is highly desirable.
