Position Overview:

The Assistant Controller plays a vital role in overseeing the financial health of the organization. The Assistant Controller manages day-to-day accounting operations, manages the Accounting Managers for Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Operations Finance, supports the month-end close process, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. The Assistant Controller maintains robust financial controls, optimizes accounting procedures, and delivers insightful financial analysis.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversees and supports Accounting Managers (Accounts Payable, Operations Finance, and Payroll) to ensure accurate and timely processing.
• Assists in managing and coordinating the financial close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Monitors compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal financial policies, recommending improvements where necessary.
• Assists with budgeting and forecasting processes to provide accurate financial projections.
• Analyzes and reports on financial results and identifies trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
• Creates and recommends major financial policies for the company to senior management.
• Collaborates with external auditors during annual audits, ensuring accurate and complete documentation.
• Implements and refines internal control systems to prevent inaccuracies and fraud.
• Assists with managing the ERP system and other accounting software, ensuring accurate financial data.
• Leads and mentors subordinate accounting staff, providing training and guidance for professional growth.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation preferred.
• 10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity required. 5 years of construction experience preferred.
• Experience with construction specific software preferred.

Skills/Abilities:

• Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting as it pertains to the construction industry, including revenue recognition for long term contracts.
• High proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
