The Business Unit Accountant is responsible for providing accounting support to the Business Unit Manager and assigned Business Unit(s). Responsibilities include daily accounting tasks, month end reporting and overall assistance with financial analysis of the business unit. Responsible for managing accounts receivables and payable aging reports. Other duties include but are not limited to:Maintain all accounting functions of the business unit.Assist with month-end reporting of business unit results and reconcile accounts as needed.Manage Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payables subledgers and ensure timely processing of payables and collection of receivables.Maintain and reconcile Work in Process account.Assist with resolving disputed items and answer questions.Maintain all accounting files and supporting documents.Assist with training and developing personnel.Assist with miscellaneous reporting tasks as needed to support the operational team.Work collaboratively with the Business Unit Manager to develop an annual budget.Assist with annual audits. Other duties that may be required of this position:Minimal travel to business unit locations, less than 10%.Not all aspects of the job are covered by the descriptions, other duties may be required. Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a bachelor’s degree in business with emphasis in accounting, is highly preferred.Three to five (3-5) years of demonstrated experience working in an accounting department.Advanced verifiable experience with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, and Outlook are required.Excellent Excel skills.Excellent attendance record.Good verbal and written communication skills as well as professional telephone skills required.Must have a valid driver’s license.Must have reliable transportation, position is located in-office.Must be highly motivated and have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures. Other qualifications that may be required of this position:Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) preferred but must be able to obtain within 30 days of hire.Must be able to obtain a Port Authority Card within 30 days of hire.Position may change as industry and technology evolve.
