Vice President Finance

We are assisting our client with identifying and hiring a Vice President of Finance to work side by side their current CFO. In concert with their succession plan, the person hired into this role will be the likely successor to the CFO role.

  • $160,000-$180,000 starting salary depending on experience
  • Performance Bonuses up to an additional 25% of total salary

Position Specifics:

  • Reports to: President / Chief Financial Officer
  • Supervises: Controller, Payroll Manager, AR/AP Departments, and IT team
  • Location: Central Valley, CA This role is 100% on site

Qualifications:

Minimum: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines: Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • Five years of experience as Controller or Sr. Management role in mid to large size company

Preferred:

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or advanced degree in a related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
  • Board of Directors experience.
  • Experience in non-finance related roles such as IT, HR and operation

Key Results and Deliverables:

  • Helps develop the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Capital Budget, Cash Flow Projections, Department P&L’s and operating budgets
  • Translates the AOP into quantifiable metrics, P&L reporting, and Forecasting
  • Leads the finance team in all day-to-day activities
  • Supports the CFO in board room duties and Audit Committee assignments
  • Supports senior leadership with the financial resources needed to be successful
  • Teams with business executives to help manage the financial impact of each decision

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills. Able to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, be collaborative and proactive
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively influence and build support for company initiatives
  • Strong federal and state tax knowledge for individuals, corporations, and partnerships
  • Strong knowledge of IT system implementations and IT departmental responsibilities

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Become a trusted member of Executive Management Team and contribute to its mission of continuous improvement, effective teamwork, and accountability.
  • Responsible for monthly P&L and cash forecasts and longer-term projections
  • Must be able to build excel models with underlying assumptions for corporate projections
  • Directs the preparation of all financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, reports to stakeholders, tax returns, and reports for governmental regulatory agencies
  • Support the development and implementation of the annual Operating Budget and Capital Expenditures Budget in conjunction with the Strategic Business Plan
  • Provide financial support by studying long-range economic trends and evaluate company prospects for future growth and expansion opportunities
  • Analyzes company operations to identify opportunities and areas that need to be expanded, reorganized, downsized, or eliminated
  • Assists in the management and audits of the corporate insurance program and 401k plan.
  • Assist the CFO in cash management strategies and developing close banking relationships
  • Supervises all financial/accounting activities to ensure that financial processes and are accurate, timely, and contain adequate internal controls
  • Develop and implement a Staff Development Plan for Finance personnel. Assess capabilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Mentor, coach and motivate high performers to acquire more responsibility. Create career path incentives and succession plans
  • Responsible for developing organization's overall financial policies and procedures
  • Oversees the IT function and technology enhancements. Champion of ERP system
  • Responsible for ensuring that Company benefits are competitive, cost sensitive, and reflective of our Family values
