Our construction equipment group is seeking a full-time field service diesel technician / mechanic with the classification of Rental Field Technician 2 for our Traverse City, MI branch. This is a union position and will be part of Operating Engineers Local 324. A Field Technician is qualified to successfully, efficiently, and accurately perform drain, refill, and change filters of various fluid compartments, to inspect and lubricate various equipment as required by their assigned service department, as well as perform general technician duties. A Field Technician will service aerial platforms, compact equipment, small utility equipment (light towers, tools, etc.), and the complete line of equipment offered by the Company. Field Technicians must be Volvo Level 3 certified and certified in aerial lift inspections. Field Technicians will be required to maintain an Operators or Chauffeurs endorsement on their driver license and a clean driving record in accordance with the Company’s insurance carrier’s requirements. Qualifications:Four years of previous heavy equipment or over the road (OTR) repair experience is requiredExcellent mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of the following systems: engine, power train, hydraulics and electricalPossess own toolsA positive attitude and high energyMust have a clean driving recordComputer programs - Microsoft Outlook, Volvo VCADSLanguage Skills - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.Mathematical Skills - Basic: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.Reasoning Ability - Intermediate: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
