Job DescriptionJob SummaryThe Project Manager reports to the Senior Project Manager and the Technical Director and must have good knowledge of the general maintenance work onboard vessels and provide technical support to the field on equipment issues, as well as the evaluation and recommendation of maintenance procedures and practices.
Must be authorized to work in the United States of America.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Adhere to Alpha Mar Group’s policies and procedures
Oversees implementation of job safety analyses and hazard assessments
Provide technical assistance for troubleshooting and repair of equipment directly to vessels and our foremen or workers
Provide technical support and contact Manufacturers and Vendors as required in assisting troubleshooting
Provide Engineering expertise and technical support to resolve equipment and mechanical issues
Provides cost estimations and creates quotations to the clients
Oversees and controls costs during the project
Coordinates and allocates labor to the projects
Verifies repairs and projects meet international requirements and safety standards
Ensures through periodic checks that records and documentation on jobs and in the office are kept accurate and up to date
Logs and documents all project related activities and costs and hands it over to the accounting department
Provides technical documentation to the client upon completion of a project
Participate in the evaluation of equipment failure reports from ships and propose corrective action, if applicable
Monitors repairs and rebuilds to ensure they are performed properly, safely, and economically
Provide assistance as needed in reviewing requisitions for spare parts, tools and materials
Provide as needed specific assistance or answers to requests from clients
Provide input on class and regulatory questions
Assist in producing a high level of productivity, teamwork, and employee satisfaction within the maintenance team
Visiting ships regularly to inspect and oversee projects
Visiting and assisting the maintenance teams in the field
Supervise entire projects, when necessary
Travel to potential job sites for inspection and estimating
Establish and maintain contact to existing and potential new clients
Purchasing / rentals of project related materials
New customer outreach and expected to keep continued relations
Stay up to date with new safety regulations and requirements
Develop and implement necessary changes of organizational processes and procedures to help improve the company's efficiency and profits
Performs other duties and special projects as requested by management
Keep track of tools, equipment calibration and maintenance

Qualifications / Experience:BS in a technical discipline, or a relevant amount of experience, is required. An advanced degree is preferred in a technical discipline associated with ship repair such as marine engineering. Minimum one (1) year of progressively more complex work experience that demonstrates in-depth ship repair and production knowledge. A minimum of three (3) years of project management experience is required. The critical criterion is specific, demonstrated success in planning, staffing, coordinating and profitably executing multi-trade, extensive, labor-intensive, multi-phased projects. Physical Demands: Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity. He/she must be able to walk to and from job sites. The person must be able to climb inclined stairways and vertical ladders; to enter confined areas and tanks; to work at heights. He/she may be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekends. The incumbent must be able to frequently bend, squat, crawl, twist and may be required to lift up to 50 pounds. There may be local travel and out-of-town travel (including air travel) up to 80% of the time with notice.
