As a Back of House (BOH) Team Member at Alpaca Peruvian Chicken, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and consistency of our Peruvian-inspired cuisine. Working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, you will be responsible for preparing ingredients, cooking dishes to order, and maintaining cleanliness and organization according to food safety standards. Your dedication to excellence and teamwork will contribute to delivering an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Food Preparation:
- Prepare ingredients according to recipes and portion sizes, including marinating meats, chopping vegetables, and preparing sauces.
- Follow standardized recipes and cooking techniques to ensure consistency and quality of food items.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines when handling and storing ingredients.
2. Cooking and Assembly:
- Monitor cooking temperatures and times to ensure food safety and optimal flavor.
- Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient preparation of orders.
- Plate and garnish dishes according to presentation standards before serving.
3. Kitchen Organization and Cleanliness:
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including food preparation surfaces, cooking equipment, and storage areas.
- Regularly clean kitchen equipment, such as grills, fryers, and cutting boards, following established cleaning procedures.
- Dispose of kitchen waste properly and ensure compliance with recycling and waste management protocols.
4. Quality Control and Compliance:
- Conduct quality checks on food items to ensure they meet company standards for taste, appearance, and freshness.
- Monitor food temperatures during cooking and holding to prevent foodborne illness and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, sanitation, and personal hygiene practices.
5. Teamwork and Communication:
- Collaborate effectively with other BOH team members and communicate any issues or concerns to kitchen management.
- Foster a positive and respectful work environment by demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation role, preferably in a restaurant or food service establishment.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food safety practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and consistency.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
**Physical Requirements:**
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Capable of lifting and carrying heavy objects, such as bags of ingredients or containers of food, up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in a hot and humid kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, and cooking odors.
