What does a Logistics Specialist do? The Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing logistics activities in a manner that shall meet business fulfillment requirements in parallel with the goal of transportation cost reduction. The position is responsible for collecting and communicating all necessary information related to upcoming and ongoing shipments, projects, and services, as well as providing logistics support, consulting, and obtaining the best possible transportation rates.
Position Details:
Location: Ft. Myers, FL
Work Schedule: 40 hours, 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday (some weekend / after-hours support / on-call rotation may be required)
Position Classification: Full-Time; Salaried Exempt, Entry-Level
Compensation: $45,000 - $48,000
Physical Demands: Sitting, typing, walking, and talking on the phone.
Work Environment: Office Cubicle

Required Experience and Education:
  • Bachelor’s or equivalent college degree preferred
  • International logistics experience preferred
  • Scheduling and critical path management experience preferred

Responsibilities:
  • Route cargo in accordance with legal and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate the routing process.
  • Issue resolution and shipment responsibility
  • Initiation of Claim against Logistics Service Provider if needed
  • Claims Status Tracking and Follow Up with LSP for Claim Reimbursement; Retention of Applicable
  • Invoicing Information for Damage Repair and Coordination with appropriate individual(s) for Cost Recovery/Accounting Information
  • Notification of Service Provider by Logistics team, of Intent to File Claim and Subsequent Filing of Claim with Responsible Service Provider
  • Confirmation of Funds Transfer/Reimbursement via Finance Group; Applicable Updating of Claims Database Regarding Claim Status, Recovery vs. Freight Value/Claim Amount Data
  • Reporting and tracking of all claims
  • Training of new employees and clients, if needed
  • Research and subject matter expertise in the field of logistics and transportation
  • Actively use either Allyn’s ALA software or use the software chosen per the client
  • Accurately issue shipping documentation such as certificates of origin, customs invoices, packing lists, and certificates of insurance
  • Reliably track and expedite the progress of specialized shipments
  • Actively look for and capture savings opportunities and added value opportunities when possible
  • Actively participate in team meetings, conference calls, and daily project management calls with Allyn team and with the client
  • Department of Transportation (“DOT”) and other transport regulations compliance management, including permitting, over-dimensional, and Hazmat
  • Eliminate or minimize risk exposure for Allyn and customers
  • Track and resolve freight claims
  • May be required to participate in industry publication and articles
