POSITION TITLE: IT Programmer

PAY GRADE: Salary Exempt

BUSINESS UNIT: Information Technology Dept: 88-Information Technology REPORTS TO: Information Technology Director

PURPOSE: An effective IT Programmer holds safety as a value. Demonstrates safe work practices in all they do and has no hesitation notifying anyone of an unsafe situation. The IT programmer is responsible for designing and supporting programs and systems in accordance with company standards and end-user requirements. Successful performance in this role is demonstrated by the timely completion of data extracts, reporting, programs, and view/query creation.

1.0 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:

  • Follow all company safety guidelines, practices, and procedures. This includes the proper use of personal protective equipment when required.
  • Meets with Managers, Supervisors and End-Users to understand reporting and data needs.
  • Designs and maintains company Crystal Reports, Dashboards, Scorecards, In-house programs, view/queries, and data using industry standard tools, (i.e., SQL, NET, Visual Studio and API’s) and techniques.
  • Validates existing extracts, views/queries and reports and identifies advanced reporting needs.
  • Develops and provides clear documentation and training of programmed solutions.
  • Provides support for ongoing development, maintenance, and remediation of programs and applications that have been developed as systems are upgraded or changed.
  • Helps the IT Department complete projects and participates in IT meetings and on-call rotation.
  • Provides End-User Help Desk support as needed.
  • Monitors emerging technology developments and identifies innovations with potential high payoffs for the system.
  • Targeted reduction in waste of all forms (time, materials, labor).
  • Creating and continually improving upon a culture of teamwork, accountability, and trust by modeling expectations and providing positive feedback to drive desired behaviors.
  • Performing other duties, as assigned.


2.0 QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

3.0 KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in information technology (or related degree), two plus years of experience as a programmer preferred. Or an associate degree in information technology (or related degree), with four years plus of experience as a programmer and or equivalent programming experience preferred. Individual should understand manufacturing practices, be familiar with Crystal Server/Reports, SQL queries, API’s, and DB maintenance. Microsoft certification preferred.

4.0 MENTAL/VISUAL REQUIREMENT:

Ability to follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to work without close supervision. Ability to generate reporting documents and participate in team meetings. Self-motivated with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced office environment. Basic math skills, ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


5.0 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

6.0 WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The environmental characteristics described here are representative of those an associate will encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate frequently sits in an office environment. The associate may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Due to the open environment of the building, must be able to work in various temperatures. Involves moderate or occasional presence of unfavorable conditions, i.e., cold, dust, heat, noise, odor, chemicals, etc. Safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, heat protective sleeves, and safety shoes may be required in the area that you are working in based on our safety PPE standards.
