Job Summary: The Alloy Lab Technician is responsible for conducting tests, experiments, and analyses on alloy samples to assess their properties, quality, and performance. This role involves operating lab equipment, documenting results, and collaborating with engineers and researchers to support product development and quality assurance processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform physical, chemical, and metallurgical tests on alloy samples to evaluate their composition, properties, and suitability for specific applications.
• Operate lab equipment, such as spectrometers, microscopes, hardness testers, and thermal analyzers, to conduct tests and experiments accurately.
• Prepare alloy samples for testing, including specimen preparation, mounting, polishing, and etching, following standard procedures and safety protocols.
• Analyze test results, interpret data, and generate reports detailing findings, observations, and recommendations for further analysis or improvement.
• Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and production teams to support alloy development, process optimization, and quality control initiatives.
• Maintain lab equipment, calibrate instruments, and ensure adherence to quality standards, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Document test procedures, protocols, and results in lab notebooks, databases, or electronic systems for traceability and record-keeping purposes.
• Assist in troubleshooting technical issues, conducting root cause analyses, and implementing corrective actions to address quality or performance concerns.
• Participate in research projects, continuous improvement efforts, and cross-functional teams to enhance product quality, innovation, and competitiveness.
• Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in alloy technology, and best practices in materials testing and characterization.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in materials science, metallurgy, chemistry, or a related field; relevant certifications or coursework in alloy testing and analysis are beneficial.

• Previous experience as a lab technician or materials testing specialist, preferably in the metals or alloy industry.
• Knowledge of laboratory techniques, analytical methods, and instrumentation used in alloy testing, such as X-ray fluorescence (XRF), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).
• Familiarity with metallurgical principles, phase diagrams, heat treatment processes, and mechanical testing methods (e.g., tensile, hardness, impact).
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities in interpreting test results, troubleshooting issues, and recommending solutions.
• Ability to work independently, follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), and adhere to safety protocols in a laboratory environment.
• Proficiency in computer skills, data analysis software, and Microsoft Office Suite for generating reports, analyzing data, and communicating findings.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and convey technical information clearly.

The Alloy Lab Technician works primarily in a laboratory setting, conducting tests, experiments, and analyses on alloy samples. Strict adherence to safety guidelines, quality standards, and lab protocols is essential in this role.
