ALLIANT is Hiring a Construction Safety Coordinator Near Greer, SC

Alliant is looking for a skilled Construction Safety specialist to join our team in Greer, SC.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily construction safety oversight visits, inspections, and audits at various types of construction sites
  • Inspect and examine all health and safety related complaints, workplace accidents, outbreaks of diseases, the spill of hazardous toxins or poison
  • Search for physical, biological, and chemical workplace hazards based on regulatory compliance and the expectation/standards established for the client’s site.
  • Investigate the construction site to ensure equipment, production, and material processes do not pose a safety or health hazard to employees, work guests, and the general public
  • Evaluate subcontractors’ implementation of health and safety programs and strategies
  • Work closely with all tiers of organization and regulators, as necessary
  • Document daily safety and health visits, inspections, and audits, to include interviews, observations, and follow up
  • Train and advise subcontractors and all relevant stakeholders on issues of construction safety
  • Creating different frameworks that will reduce accidents and improve workplace safety
  • Verify the adequacy and safety of all work proposed tools and equipment
  • Review and approve all subcontractors’ safety plans (examples include critical crane lifts, excavations, blasting, confined space, hot taps, etc.)
  • Train and run drills and exercise with workers on how to manage an emergency situation.
  • Works closely with contract vetting services (e.g., ISNet World), procurement departments, and security to evaluate potential and existing contract services with respect to construction safety.
  • Lead weekly safety oversight meetings and communication with construction, security, and general industry safety professionals.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to “coach” personnel on safe work practices during site visits
  • Minimum of ten years’ hands-on experience in construction safety with expertise in hoisting and rigging, electrical safety and trenching and excavation
  • Ability to communicate excellently in both oral and written format (Examples include Quarterly Board Review meetings with the client’s management team to review key performance indicators, procurement escalation meetings, as well as shutdown/project summaries and overviews)
  • Detailed knowledge of construction standards (e.g., ANSI, ASTM, etc.) and regulations (i.e., federal and state OSHA)
  • Outstanding organizational and record-keeping abilities – the ability to maintain good record of all safety-related activities
  • Ability to climb heights using ladders or scaffolding.
  • Good team player, self-confident, self-starter, motivated, and independent individual
  • OSHA 510, Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry required
  • Flexible shift hours based on project work. Position requires work during summer shutdowns and winter shutdowns based on the work that is being completed.
  • Completion of the following courses is considered favorable:
  • OSHA 2055 Cranes in Construction
  • OSHA 7215 Silica in Construction, Maritime, and General Industries
  • OSHA 7405 Fall Hazard Awareness for the Construction Industry
  • OSHA 7415 OSHA Construction Industry Requirements (Major Hazards and Prevention)
  • Strong computer skills, specifically in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and deliver consistently helpful direction and support to staff and external customers.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 8 years hands-on experience in construction safety
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial hygiene, or relevant scientific, engineering, or technical discipline, or equivalent specialized training, preferred.
  • CSP or BCSP-approval to sit for CSP exam preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
