REPORTS TO: Health Accounting Manager
LOCATION: Allegiance office or off-site
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
Position ResponsibilitiesThrough a respectful, constructive and energetic style guided by the objectives of the company, the Health Accountant provides the leadership necessary to ensure that the accounting department offers a level of service that exceeds both our internal and external customers' expectations.
The incumbent is expected to communicate professionally with peers, supervisors, subordinates, vendors, customers, and the public, and to be respectful and courteous in the conduct of this position.
Essential Job FunctionsEssential job functions include the following. Other functions may be assigned as business conditions change.
  • Claims Batch Selections, Reporting, and Notifications
  • Claims Batch Reporting Audits and Void/Refund Audits
  • Responding to Client Inquiries
  • Fund Transfers
  • ACH File Creation and Audit
  • Cash Posting
  • Claims Batch Releases and Balancing
  • Process and Track Check Pulls & Reversals
  • Advance Funding Tracking and Audits
  • Monthly Fixed Costs and Accounts Payable Check Runs
  • Check Printing, as applicable
  • Import Bank Files
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Other Reporting & Data Entry
  • Assist w/ other areas in department as needed
  • Contributes to the daily workflow with regular and punctual attendance

Minimum Education: High school graduation or GED required.
Certification(s) Required: N/A
Minimum Experience: Accounting experience preferred.
Other Qualifications▪ Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
▪ PC skills, including Windows, Word, Excel, Access, internet and email applications. Must be able to adapt to software changes as they occur.
▪ Ability to learn all functions of the claims processing software program as is necessary for accounting functions and adapt to software changes as they occur.
▪ Ability to enter data with accuracy and precision.
▪ Basic mathematical skills.
▪ High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
▪ Ability to organize and recall large amounts of information including interactions with employees, agents, plan participants and clients.
▪ Ability to project a professional image and positive attitude in any work environment.
▪ Ability to comply with privacy and confidentiality standards.
▪ Ability to analyze and solve problems with professionalism and patience, and to exercise good judgment when making decisions.
▪ Ability to operate typical office equipment.
▪ Working knowledge of general office procedures.
