Position Summary

Allan Hancock College is a California public community college located in northern Santa Barbara County. The college is ranked as one of the five best community colleges in California and one of the top 120 community colleges in the nation. Approximately 11,500 credit students enroll each semester at one of the college's four locations in Santa Maria, Lompoc, Santa Ynez Valley, or at Vandenberg Space Force Base. This tenure-track assignments will beginAugust 2022. New faculty will be invited to teach a variety of courses and will also contribute through instruction and service to expanding the department's learning communities in support of our Latinx, AAPI, and African American students, as well as other historically underrepresented student populations.

Essential Functions and Qualifications

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and use course materials and incorporate current technology.

Use multimedia technology in classroom instruction.

Plan, organize, and present lecture and lesson materials and concepts.

Communicate effectively, both in oral and written communication.

Work with and assist students having a broad range of skills, motivation, and academic or vocational goals.

Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others

Apply evaluation and assessment methods.

Identify and use learning outcomes and assessment that lead to course and program improvements.

Desired Qualifications

Course design, evaluation, and assessment methods which enhance student learning.

Interrelationship of critical thinking, reading, and writing and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge to instruction.

Currency in the instruction of Human Anatomy and Human Physiology lectures and laboratories, including the use of human cadavers.

Demonstrated experience in teaching strategies that address the needs of students with a variety of learning styles.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in any biological science. 

OR

Bachelor's degree in any biological science; 

AND

Master's degree in 

biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science. 

OR

The equivalent as outlined in Board Policy 7211 (Download PDF reader)

Additional Information

The hiring salary range is $57,858 to $82,391 dependent upon education and experience.
