DEFINITION
Under minimal supervision of the appropriate administrator, performs a wide range of responsible technical library, and clerical duties related to provision of service in a computer-based information center/library and open access computer laboratory setting; supports instruction as assigned.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
The library services technician assumes responsibility for a variety of technical library/ tasks. Incumbents are delegated a substantial amount of administrative detail and non-routine work with a high degree of visibility and contact with faculty, students, and members of the public. Incumbents may be assigned responsibility for work within a functional area of learning resources, such as circulation, cataloging, or student computer facilities. The incumbent works with students, faculty, staff and members of the community in support of successful learning. Incumbents are expected to model good public relations and to provide support to students in the learning resource center.
Education/Experience
An associate degree in library science or comparable library/media technician program and two years of responsible library/media experience is preferred. Two or more years of experience with operation of computers using a Windows-based environment and Microsoft Office and its applications.
The desired start date is July/August 2024. This is a part-time. 19.5 hours, 10-month classified position.
*Please note this position is located the evening at the Lompoc Valley Center.
Hours for this position are:
Monday and Wednesday - 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Tuesday and Thursday - 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Friday - 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Bargaining unit employees whose regular work schedule requires work after 6:00 p.m. and before 6:00 a.m. for two (2) or more days per week shall receive a shift differential according to the following schedule:
9.3.2 Two-and-one-half percent (2.5%) above their regular rate of pay for all hours worked provided the shift includes two (2) hours between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Allan Hancock College is a California public community college located in northern Santa Barbara County. The college has been recognized three times by the Aspen Institute as one of the top 150 community colleges in the nation. Hancock had its accreditation status fully reaffirmed through 2023 by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC).
