- Manage the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom
- Communicate warmly, effectively, and frequently with children, colleagues, and parents
- Spend time observing the children's interests to create stimulating, age appropriate Emergent Curriculum
- Be familiar with, but continually learning about, children’s learning development- cognitive, social /emotional, communication and physical development
- Guide teachers assistants in effectively helping in the classroom
- Be familiar with PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies/ Supports)
- Maintain a general classroom schedule, while being flexible and sensitive to changes in the classroom
- Be knowledgeable about general principles and best practices of early childhood education
- Familiarity with Emergent Curriculum model a plus
