Alive & Kickin’ Pizza Crust is Hiring a Safety Specialist (Entry-Level) Near GREEN BAY, WI

Description

The entry level Safety Specialist serves as a representative and contributor to the environment, health and safety function for Alive & Kickin’ Pizza Crust and its subsidiaries by providing strong safety support services to the company’s operations in Production, Shipping & Receiving, Engineering, Facilities, Maintenance and Sanitation & Housekeeping. The Safety Specialist will provide regularly scheduled safety inspections and communicate deficits and suggested corrective actions, provide behavior-based safety observations and employee coaching, encouraging safety compliance. The Safety Specialist also serves as a resource to Engineering and plant management by providing job safety analysis, consultation on new production line design as well as recommendations for hazard abatement and control. The Safety Specialist will also provide timely response to incidents and provide investigations and reports, employee training and perform other duties as assigned.

General:

  • Status: Full time, salary/exempt.

  • Department: Environment, Health and Safety
  • Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, office hours with occasional early and late hours as needed to cover plant shifts for training, incident investigation or other safety-related needs.
  • Reports to: The EHS Manager
  • Direct reports: None

 Technical Skills: 

  • Basic knowledge of hazard identification, abatement and control.
  • Comfort with interpersonal skills required for employee training and coaching.
  • Understanding and application of OSHA 1910.147, Lockout/Tagout; 1910.178, Powered Industrial Vehicles, 1910.1200, Hazard Communication, 1910.211, 1910.212, Machine Guarding, general knowledge of fall protection, ladder safety, walking and working surfaces, general fall protection, blood borne pathogen exposure prevention and heat stress prevention.
  • Understanding of basic industrial technology, machine operation, etc.

Requirements

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • May participate in daily operations meetings, representing safety and reviewing concerns or incidents as needed.
  • Responds to and resolves management’s questions about OSHA requirements and hazard identification and control.
  • Coordinates and schedules safety training as needed.
  • Weekly safety inspections.
  • Works with Facilities Specialist, Maintenace, Engineering and Operations to control and abate hazards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of OSHA 1910 standards for general industry; 10-hour certification is a plus.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Must respond to customer requests in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently.

Education and Experience:

  • An associate degree in manufacturing safety is required.
  • One year of industrial safety experience is strongly preferred, although new grads will also be considered.
  • Physical Requirements: 
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged standing and walking, up to 1 – 3 hours at a time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
