What SuccessMeans In This Position

Substitute teachersperform the instructional and classroom management processes for teachers whoare absent for a day or more extended periods. Their duties include takingattendance, explaining homework, and maintaining classroom cleanliness.Candidates need to be flexible in their availability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Adhering to the curriculum and lesson plansassigned by the regular teacher.

Following procedures and achieving lessongoals.

Assigning and explaining homework.

Overseeing students outside of the classroom,including in the hallways and cafeteria.

Complying with all school regulations andpolicies at all times.

Taking attendance and documenting daily notes.

Ensuring the classroom and workstations arekept clean and orderly.

Overseeing the normal classroom rhythms andactivities.

Compiling a report for the teacher when theyreturn.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma orequivalent qualification.

Bachelor degree inteaching is preferred.

Certificate inteaching or substitute teaching.

A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role.

Must bedetail-oriented and able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Excellentcommunication and interpersonal skills.

While performing the dutiesof this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

Possess the ability tofulfill all office activities normally expected in an office setting, toinclude, but not limited to: remainingseated for long periods to perform computer entry, participating in filingactivity, lifting and carrying office supplies.

The employee mustoccasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Fine hand manipulation(keyboarding).
