Summary

The Assistant Ropes Course Specialist is responsible for assisting members with challenge course equipment, belaying climbers, and creating a safe and fun environment. The Assistant Ropes Course instructor will accomplish this by providing proper information, training, and supervision of the Challenge Course at Day Camp Tracy. 

Essential Functions

• Follow proper challenge course opening and closing procedures.
• Ensure the safety of all patrons & members; remedy all unsafe practices or conditions immediately.
• Apply the challenge course policies and procedures at all times.
• Demonstrate knowledge of at least 10 Field/Icebreaker/challenge games
• Demonstrate and instruct proper spotting techniques
• Inspect, issue, and maintain Challenge Course equipment; document unsafe equipment and remove it from the inventory to be repaired or replaced.
• Provide first aid in emergency situations.

Requirements

• Certified in Standard First Aid and CPR
• Individual should have belaying experience
• Knowledge of climbing, rope care, and maintenance
• Extreme attention to detail and safety needed
• This individual must also have experience working with children and supervising staff
• 18 years of age or older with a high school degree or equivalent
