Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Assist with food production and developing and maintaining the edible gardens, community gardens and greenhouse. At times, they may help support agricultural education for youth. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Food production from seed to harvest including weeding and maintaining irrigation.
• Support building and systems maintenance.
• Harvest and complete post-harvest tasks following food safety protocols.
• Assist with vegetable and seedling production
• Lead activities with youth ages 5-12 years old

Requirements

 KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

• Relevant agricultural degrees and certificates a plus, but not necessary.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum one season of food production or farming experience.
• Experience working with children a plus.

 SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

• Familiarity with greenhouse production, irrigation, food production and harvesting.
• Enthusiastic about agriculture and mentoring youth

 
WORK SCHEDULE: This is a part-time position at 10-20 hours per week from May until the end of June. The position has the potential to turn into a full-time position to include an educational component and ASP responsibilities. Hours may be throughout the week and weekend.
