POSITION TITLE AND DEPARTMENT:

Behavioral Health Clinician within Department of Healing & Wellness

POSITION LOCATION:

This position is based in Anchorage, Alaska.

POSITION CLASSIFICATION AND HOURS:

Regular Appointment Full-Time; 40 hours per week

JOB SUMMARY:

The Behavioral Health Clinician plays a pivotal role in overseeing the Behavioral Health Division and ensuring the provision of high-quality mental health services. This leadership position involves managing a team, providing quality mental health and substance abuse services to youth, adults and families including mental health, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, assessments, prevention, outreach, aftercare, referral, and developing treatment plans.

The Behavioral Health Clinician is also responsible for maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and collaborating with other departments for integrated care. This role requires exceptional leadership, clinical expertise, and a commitment to the well-being of clients and the community. May be required to work in alternate locations to meet programmatic needs including occasional village crisis response and quarterly visits to St. Paul Island to provide services.

DUTIES:

The following are the essential Job Functions of the Behavioral Health Clinician:

· Ensure that clinical records adhere to State, Federal and Ethical guidelines in terms of accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.

· Provides a broad spectrum of therapeutic assessment, treatment, and referral services to diverse behavioral health clients, including children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups.

· Develop a treatment plan with special consideration to cross-cultural and dual diagnosis concerns. Ensures appropriate implementation of treatment plan.

· Provide transitional counseling following primary Mental Health, Substance Abuse or Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment.

· Provide Prevention and Education services to children, adolescents, adults and elders regarding Mental Health, Substance Abuse, and Wellness.

· Provide and receives appropriate referrals to and from other agencies and resources.

· Provides culturally appropriate modes of service (i.e. Talking Circles and Subsistence Activities) as appropriate.

· Provide ongoing outreach services to the communities served.

· Provide effective coverage for behavioral health emergency on call services; provide crisis intervention as needed.

· Networks with area professionals to maintain communication systems to coordinate therapeutic services, aligning with treatment plan goals and objectives.

· Stay informed of all tribal and community programs available for clients that will enhance the quality of life.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master’s degree in clinical Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field from an accredited institution.

2. Active Alaska State licensure as a licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, or equivalent.

3. Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision and program management within behavioral health or mental health setting.

4. Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards pertaining to mental health services.

5. Must be free of any felony convictions.

6. Must be free of misdemeanor convictions involving children or youth.

7. Must be free of misdemeanor convictions involving domestic violence.

8. Must be free of any charges in the last six (6) years of driving while intoxicated or driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

9. Must agree to be subject to a thorough background investigation and personal interviews by the ACSPI Human Resources and DHW personnel, including be subject to fingerprinting and a search of local, state, and national records and fingerprint files.

10. Must be free from illegal drug use, or abuse of legal drugs that impair mental or physical performance, for the past five (5) years, as determined by interview and medical testing.

11. Must abide by the ACSPI’s alcohol and drug free workplace policies and submit to a pre-employment alcohol and drug test.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Ph.D. in Social Services Field

2. Education and expertise in addressing historical, personal, developmental and other types of trauma with Alaska Native populations.

3. Experience working in Rural Alaska villages.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

This is a salary position ranging from $109k to $139k, depending on education, experience, and skills. Benefits include, Paid Time Off (Starting at 6 hours per pay period/156 hours per year); 16 Paid Holidays; Health Benefits; 401K; Employee Education Assistance.
