Acara Solutions is seeking highly qualified candidates to work On-Site with our Client in Hauppauge, NY. Interested?

Here's what you'd do:

  • The Hauppauge site Managing Director is responsible for providing leadership for all operations, executing corporate goals and objectives, and improving the performance of the Hauppauge and Valhalla operating locations.
  • The MD is accountable for collaborating cross-organizationally with all functional leaders to maintain and continue to improve operations efficiency and operational excellence as measured by agreed-upon key performance indicators and targets.
  • The MD is responsible for expanding operational capabilities, maintaining profitability, developing a cohesive, dynamic workforce, enhancing the organizational safety culture, and understanding and providing what clients' customers value.
  • Under the direction of the CEO and the Global Vice President of Operations and Quality and with the support of other members of the Leadership Team from corporate headquarters, the MD will be accountable for developing and delivering against customer requirements in a manner that fully leverages existing operations processes, tools, and ways of working.
  • The MD will partner with Leadership team members to ensure proper connectivity between operations and all other functions.
  • Plan and direct continuous improvement activities that focus on the following key areas such as (1) process flow, (2) shop floor layout, (3) assembly and test methods, (4) workforce development, (5) quality control, and (6) workforce utilization
  • Develop annual budgets, regularly monitor and control performance against budget, and be prepared to implement countermeasures to respond to shifting business conditions.
  • Coordinate with the Sales, Inventory Operations Planning, and Customer Service organizations to develop realistic forecasts and production delivery plans.
  • Manage and direct New Product Introduction (NPI), transfer of technology, setting up new product lines, and transferring manufacturing processes.
  • Implement Lean principles throughout the organization, emphasizing training and developing direct-reporting staff to ensure the fullest capture of improvement opportunities.
  • Lead teams in determining root causes and eliminating waste to improve process control and product reliability
  • Work jointly with headquarters to oversee ERP implementation and ensure that the training of current and new hire staff aligns with the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with global functional leadership on performance management, individual development, under-performance management, and others.
  • Ensure local and state regulatory safety, environmental, and financial requirements are met and act as site liaison to government agencies.

Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Operations or Supply Chain Management
  • Minimum of 15 years experience in engaging with customers to address concerns such as on-time delivery, product quality, and supporting the sales organization in expanding existing customer relationships
  • Minimum of 15 years experience in conducting build versus buy analyses
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in directing managers or production leaders in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in directing managers or production leaders in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment
  • Certifications or formal education in the areas of LEAN, Six Sigma, Materials Management, and Project Management
  • Advanced Electro-Mechanical aptitude or experience as a production leader in an electrical/electronics assembly and test manufacturing environment
  • Experience using Glovia or similar ERP systems
  • Familiarity with manufacturing best practices such as Lean manufacturing, preventative and predictive maintenance programs, quality management, process documentation, and full utilization of ERP capabilities
  • Knowledge/familiarization with principles of new product introduction, product transfers
  • A good communicator, active listener, and a change agent with solid decision-making skills
  • Good leadership, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Willingness to actively engage at all levels in the organization to support the development of talent
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative, transparent, and adaptive in a constantly changing environment
