POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE: Alburgh Community Education Center is currently receiving applications for grades 1 and 2 the Primary Area. The candidate will demonstrate the competencies and behaviors needed to improve student preparedness and mastery and to support the core values, vision, and mission of the Alburgh Community Education Center. Alburgh Community Education Center is a PreK through 8th grade school of approximately 225 students in a small rural community. Essential Functions:Demonstrates mastery of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials for course(s) taught. Creates lesson plans, aligned with current state and district standards, which drives instruction through formative assessment and differentiation. Maintains a safe, organized classroom, which supports students’ independent learning, collaboration and choice. Utilizes a variety of effective instructional and management techniques. Provides a variety of assessments and uses assessments for planning and instruction Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development. Provide consistent, immediate feedback to student learning and ask analytical questions that elicit students’ responses that incorporate prior knowledge, life experience and interests that are directly related to the content objective. Monitor and maintain a positive classroom environment that supports the school wide behavior expectation in which most students are engaged, incorporates mutual respect and provides cooperative learning opportunities. Uses available technology/instructional media to enhance the students’ learning experiences. Establishes and maintains appropriate relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members by communicating in a tactful, courteous, and confidential manner. Appropriately communicates and interacts with other professional staff in academic planning and school committee work. Attends and participates in staff meetings and extra-curricular/school related activities and committees. Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional growth.Maintains a professional appearance, and demonstrates behavior that is conscientious and responsible. Build a classroom culture of excellence and deliver rigorous instruction by building content expertise in art that is captured in units of study and daily plans.Engage in cycles of data driven instruction to inform unit and daily planning and personalize instruction to student needs.Partner with all students and families through frequent communication, building trusting relationships, and embracing the knowledge parents have as their child's first teacher.Engage with families on academic and behavioral goals and transparently share student progress so that both parents and teachers own each child's successes and challenges.SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to and evaluated by the Principal. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students or employees. Computer Skills and Experience: Proficient use of Google Suite: Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Forms, Google Sheets. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel. Experience working in and updating database systems. Web and Social Media communications experience preferred. Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate courteously, efficiently and effectively with a variety of individuals, including students, faculty, administrators, parents, and representatives of outside organizations. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with peers, subordinates, supervisors, parents, and outside agencies. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Some bookkeeping/accounting training or experience may be desirable.Reasoning Ability/Mental Requirements: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
