POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:Alburgh Community Education Center is currently receiving applications for a 1.0 FTE Middle School Science Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The Alburgh Community Education Center is a PreK through 8th grade school of approximately 200 students in a small rural community.Essential Functions:•Committed to collaborating with colleagues.•Engage in cycles of data driven instruction to inform unit and daily planning and personalize instruction to student needs.•Partner with all students and families through frequent communication, building trusting relationships, and embracing the knowledge parents have as their child's first teacher.•Engage with families on academic and behavioral goals and transparently share student progress so that both parents and teachers own each child's successes and challenges.•Demonstrate an ability to develop and implement plans for age-appropriate curriculum•Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter•Develop lesson plans and instructional materials•Use a variety of instructional strategies•Translate lesson plans into learning experiences•Establish and maintain standards of student behavior• Students' academic and social growth• Keep appropriate records•Communicate with parents•Identify student needs•Communicate and cooperate with other professional staff members•Create an effective environment for learning•Maintain professional competence•Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day•Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities•Use technologies in the teaching and learning process•Keep informed of and comply with state, town and school regulations and policies for classroom health and safety•Other tasks as assigned by the building principalSUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to and evaluated by the Principal.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:No formal supervisory dutiesPROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following:•Communication Skills. Acquires needed skills and knowledge with little reluctance.QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and professional expectations satisfactorily, in addition to the following:Education/Work Experience: Qualifications:•Experience teaching Science at the middle school level.•Hired applicant will be required to complete a Criminal Background Check as his/her expense•Bachelor’s degree or higher with proper teacher licensure.•Citizenship, residency, or work VISA in the United States required.•Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of students or employees.•Computer Skills and Experience: Proficient use of Google Suite: Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Forms, Google Sheets. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel. Experience working in and updating database systems. Web and Social Media communications experience preferred. •Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate courteously, efficiently, and effectively with a variety of individuals, including students, faculty, administrators, parents, and representatives of outside organizations. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with peers, subordinates, supervisors, parents, and outside agencies.•Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Some bookkeeping/accounting training or experience may be desirable.•Reasoning Ability/Mental Requirements: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.•Attendance: Reliable attendance at work and punctuality is required for the position.
