Albion Economic Development Corporation is Hiring a Grant Writer Near Albion, MI

Overview:

Under general supervision, the Economic Development Corporation Grant Writer

performs grant writing for the Economic Development Corporation to support initiatives

and projects aimed at fostering economic growth and community development. Position

responsibilities include grant writing, grant research and maintaining a list of grant

opportunities. This position is hybrid with the opportunity to work some hours remotely

and some hours in the office. Occasional local travel within the City of Albion is

required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research, identify and evaluate potential grant opportunities that align with the

organization’s economic development goals.

  • Collaborate with team members to gather information and insights required from

compelling grant proposals.

  • Develop comprehensive grant applications, ensuring alignment with the funder’s

guidelines and objectives.

  • Prepare and submit grant proposals in a timely manner, meeting all deadlines

and requirements.

  • Follow up on submitted proposals, addressing any inquiries from funders, and

providing additional information as needed.

  • Stay informed about relevant grant programs, funding trends and opportunities in

the field of economic development.

  • Conduct through research on potential funders, government agencies and private

foundations to identify suitable grant opportunities and maintain a list of grant

funders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, creative writing, business, economics,

public administration, or a related field plus 1 year grant writing, and/or related

experience OR 2 years of college plus 3 years related experience or 5 years of

related experience.

  • Strong research, analytical, problem solving and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Aptitude for defining and solving problems, collecting data, establishing facts,

drawing valid conclusions using effective judgment, and analytical skills.

  • Works independently, under pressure, to achieve goals and to create a

supportive work environment.

  • Excellent computer skills with database experience and proficiency in Microsoft

Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.

  • Skill in using tact, discretion, initiative, and independent judgment within

established guidelines.

  • Thorough knowledge of economic development programs, fundamentals of

negotiations and contract management (helpful but not required)

  • Knowledge of environmental review, bidding, prevailing wage, and monitoring

procedures associated with publicly funded projects (helpful but not required)

  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to apply rules, regulations and guidelines

associated with Economic Development programs (helpful but not required)

  • Thorough knowledge of state and local government structure, operations,

functions, practices, and procedures (helpful but not required)

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds to move or transport office or

event supplies.

  • Reliable transportation is required for occasional local travel within the City of

Albion.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $23.75 - $33.47 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
