As the Quality Assurance Coordinator for our ice cream production facility you will be primarily responsible for supporting compliance with Corporate Quality Assurance standards - implementing quality and food safety programs, validating HACCP plans, maintaining plant operations adherence to good manufacturing procedures, standard operating procedures pertaining to quality and sanitation standard operating procedures Your role will involve collaborating with production teams to identify and address quality issues, conducting audits, and continuously improving processes to enhance product quality and safety.
The expected salary range for this position is $77,000 - $87,000 annually.
Key Qualifications and responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and roll out new quality programs (sanitary maintenance, BRC audit gap analysis) to meet corporate quality standards and the plant goals of improving quality and reducing customer complaints.
  • Actively participate in regulatory audits and perform Acting QA Supervisor duties during QA Supervisor absence.
  • Perform plant floor duties including but not limited to quality audit inspection record keeping, product sample collection and analysis, HACCP updating, compliance, auditing, and active participation in the 5S program. Collecting quality related information from plant floor operators and ensuring compliance with quality standard operating procedures.
  • HACCP or other regulatory quality system(s) compliance. Data collection, procedure development and record keeping. Dealing with regulatory and plant personnel ensuring ongoing compliance.
  • Microbiological analysis. Preparation and plating of samples. Ability to read and understand microbiological issues and test results. Also, may include the purchasing of lab supplies, laboratory equipment and labels.
  • Communicate results to management ensuring production staff understand ongoing quality assurance issues and production results. Would include posting of production information and discussion of quality related root cause analysis and solutions.
  • Participate in regulatory audits and perform acting QA Manager duties during the QA Manager's absence.
  • Working knowledge of Global Food Safety Initiatives and FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act)
  • Work flexible hours and participate in operational tasks outside of the quality role as needed to assess and improve food safety and quality program.
Skills & Background
  • Bachelor's degree in food science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years experience in Quality Assurance and laboratory experience.
  • Excellent PC skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint; ability to grasp additional business-related applications.
  • HACCP/FSMA certified or is willing to become certified within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • High degree of initiative and sense of urgency.
  • Excellent analytical judgment with confidence to act.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrated time management and prioritization skills required.
  • Energetic, self-motivated and the ability to manage multiple projects across multi-functional teams.
  • Ability to motivate, lead and influence various levels of the organization.
  • 5% travel required.
