ALBEMARLE –CHARLOTTESVILLE REGIONAL JAIL

The Laundry/Canteen/Office Supply Coordinator is responsible for managing
canteen/commissary operations ensuring compliance with the established policies and
procedures. Coordinating laundry exchange according to an established schedule. Ordering
office supplies but within a budget. Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the
following:


Receives, processes, and distributes commissary orders/goods, responds to all requests
with either acceptance or rejection as appropriate.

Maintains record of Inmate purchases to ensure accurate management of Inmates
accounts, prepares account balances as requested.

Maintains and tracks the budget for Office Supplies. Keep price/value in mind when
ordering, ensuring that items purchased are reasonable and needed. Seeks permission
from Supervisor before ordering.

Conduct Laundry Exchange (jumpsuits/linens/personals) according to the current
schedule. To include taking clean laundry to housing areas and bringing dirty/soiled
laundry back to the Laundry room for wash/redistribution.

Identify/Report issues with the Washers/Dryers/Washing Chemicals to Maintenance for
Work Orders

Performs general clerical/administrative work as required, including attending
meetings, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents,
answering telephone, maintaining logs/lists, etc.

Assigned other duties by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires high school diploma, GED or specialized vocational training.

Must possess a valid state driver's license.

Certified jail officer preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other
employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally
defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Requires
strenuous physical task at times including standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying,
bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling and the ability to lift
between 20 to 50 lbs.
