Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the direction of the Perioperative RN, the Surgical Support Tech II functions as part of the Perioperative team. The Surgical Support Tech II anticipates equipment needs for turnover cases and sets up the case equipment in the OR for the next scheduled cases. The Surgical Support Tech II works with the intraoperative team to successfully turnover operating rooms between cases. Turnover duties include, but are not limited to, removing garbage and biohazardous materials, cleaning horizontal and vertical surfaces, mopping floors, positioning equipment, handling and delivering sterile supplies to the sterile field, handling and delivering sterile instruments to the sterile field, transferring patients, and transporting patients. Other duties include, but are not limited to, maintaining and storing supplies, maintaining a safe and clean OR environment, transporting lab and blood specimens, and assisting in providing care under the direct supervision of the RN. The Surgical Support Tech II may be assigned duties in all perioperative departments including PreOp, Operating Room, Recovery Room, Endoscopy, or Sterile Processing. The Surgical Support Tech II demonstrates additional competencies beyond the scope of a Surgical Support Tech I and will perform other duties within their scope of practice as assigned by the Perioperative leadership team.

What qualifications you will need:

• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.

• Working knowledge of medical terminology (preferred)

• 1 year experience in acute care setting (preferred)
