Salary: 22.56-28.21 :USD

Summary:

Under limited supervision, manages plans, organizes and directs procurement activities for supplies and equipment to all areas of assignment. Ensures that necessary equipment, materials and supplies are available to areas of the hospital and organization in an accurate and timely manner.

Responsibilities:

Mentors and/or trains other staff, and manages staff when needed.

Monitors inventory to ensure accurate PAR counts, correct reorder points, helps with recalls and will audit for expired products. Analyzes procurement problems, identifies solutions and implements changes.

Ensures area of assignment receive the best products and services available. Implements inventory cycle counts and oversees inventory. Participates in various meetings.

Provides leadership, direction and guidance in procurement for areas of assignment. Assures compliance with regulatory and hospital procedural standards. Evaluates and assures quality standards are being met.

Provides leadership, direction, and guidance to assigned staff. Develops goals and priorities in conjunction with employees, and assigns tasks and projects. Develops staff skills and training plans. Counsels, trains, and coaches subordinate staff. Maintains the confidentiality of patient records and procedures.

Performs or supervises department specific duties such as:

· Troubleshoots medical supply issues.

· Ensures supplies, equipment and instruments are ordered, restocked, retrieved, prepared, and transported within the division.

· Conducts inventory of supplies. Restocks and assembles specialty carts and surgical trays.

· Cleans equipment according to hospital procedures.

· Ensures sterilized equipment and instruments are properly labeled.

· Performs the necessary additions, corrections and general upkeep of the PXYIS automated system.

· Schedules and coordinates pick up and shipment of materials and equipment at destination as needed; following up and tracking on shipment of products to ensure timely delivery to destination.

· Completes hazardous materials documents to accompany shipments.

· Assures the safety and security of work environment and items shipped.

· Operates motorized vehicles and equipment for pickup and/or delivery of materials and equipment.

· Secures freight according to safety procedures and performs routine maintenance on the same equipment to ensure proper working condition; tracking maintenance on log sheet.

Completes quality assurance and other required departmental reports. Updates forms and count sheets for the department.

Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

· Knowledge of medical supplies, instruments and equipment.

· Knowledge of organizing, containing, and transporting items of varying compounds, textures or quantities.

· Knowledge of sterilization procedures for various instruments and equipment.

· Knowledge of infection control practices.

· Knowledge of applicable computer system software programs.

· Skill in using applicable equipment and instruments.

· Skill in effectively managing and leading staff, and delegating tasks and authority.

· Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, demands and timelines.

· Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others.

· Skill in communicating at all levels with internal and external hospital personnel.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION

Non-supervisory – Three (3) years of supply chain experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION

Must possess an Alaska driver’s license with a clean driving record.
