Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium has a hiring preference for qualified Alaska Native and American Indian applicants pursuant to P.L. 93-638 Indian Self Determination Act.

Summary:

Under direct supervision, reviews medical charts and records for quality control of information and prepares record for processing, coding, and billing. Assists with the gathering and maintenance of medical records of patients, in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the health care system.

Responsibilities:

G athers patient information and records from a variety of sources. Reviews medical records for activity, notes, deficiencies, assembles supporting documentation, and prepares records for coding and billing staff. Reviews each medical record to check for missing documentation.
A dd and follow up on the provider’s deficiencies as needed to ensure the completion of the medical record.
C ommunicates with physicians regarding necessary record addendums. Manage and follow up on cases pending provider reviews.
P rocesses dictation requests and transcriptions. Maintains manual and electronic filing systems.
P erform the medical record review, validate follow-up request, and perform corrections in the medical record.
D isseminates notes to correct encounters when errors has been made in registration for admission and discharge has occurred.
P rocesses requests for information and provides assistance to professional staff and service providers within scope of authority.
A ssists with Death Certificates initiated in our facility.
A nswers multi-line phones in a prompt and courteous manner. Requests additional information as needed.
S ends appropriate follow-up (email, fax, written) for outstanding records.
P repares reviews and distributes a variety of files, records, reports, and other documents. Reviews electronic record for accuracy and completeness, and corrects as required.
A ssist Providers and other departments to resolve documentation issues. Order charts from archives.
M aintains the confidentiality of patient records and procedures.
D elivers exceptional customer experience to members and providers.
P erforms other duties as assigned.
