The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a potential need for talent to fulfill an Animator role to provide support services for a customer out of Silver Springs, Maryland.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop a range of health education and communication materials that will be used to disseminate FDA OMHHE’s health messages. The health education materials shall primarily consist of literature in both print and digital format on health topics that directly impact the health of the consumers we serve.
• Provide graphic design support (e.g., layout and design) for OMHHE and shall ensure that all health education materials that are produced are properly formatted for print and digital use.
• Follow HHS digital communication guidelines, as specified by the HHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs (ASPA) and as outlined in the HHS Style Guide, to ensure that all materials that are produced are compliant with HHS standards. This shall include following Section 508 Compliance and FDA Visual Identity guidelines and procedures.
• Create and design a series of health education materials on a variety of topicsrelevant to minority health. Each series will include talking points, fact sheet, infographic, and brochure, at a minimum. In collaboration with FDA OMHHE, the contractor shall be responsible for writing and developing the content of the materials, providing print materials for factsheets, brochures, postcards, social media cards, and infographics.
• Conduct background research (e.g., literature review) to support and ensure the accuracy of the content. Examples of products include:
  • Talking Points
  • Factsheets
  • Brochures
  • Postcards and Social media cards
  • Posters
  • Infographics
  • Web content for www.fda.gov/healthequityh.Social media (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, or Instagram) messages, scripts, and Q & A documents
  • Podcasts
  • Video Recordings (e.g., disease topics, generic messages from the office, speeches, interviews)
  • Presentations
• Produce content for over ten health topics per year (if agency priorities and funding permits) and provide FDA with the e- files of all the graphics, etc. in an FDA-readable format and provide material on print as requested. Content can be a mix of print and/or digital content based on the topic.
• Provide graphic design support to create images to accompany each set of health education materials.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with illustration and visual story development. 
• HIGHLY Desired: Strategic public health experience that has focused on studies and communications in disease areas that disproportionately affect minority populations (e.g., cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, asthma, HIV/AIDS, chronic lung disease, chronic liver disease, chronic kidney disease, and sickle cell disease). These communications will help efforts towards promoting existing campaigns like the Diversity in Clinical Trials Initiative, Lupus and Clinical Trial Diversity, Language Access, Skin Lightening, among others.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

• Have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, from an accredited institution. 

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

• Must be a U.S citizen. 
• Must pass a favorable background clearance.
