240-day position paid following the board-approved salary schedule

JOB GOAL:

  • Recruit, retain, and develop highly effective certified and classified employees to meet the needs of all students of the Pike Road Schools.
  • Provide excellent human resource and personnel services for the employees of the Pike Road Schools.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in school administration, public administration, business administration, or human resource management or Current Alabama Professional Leadership Certification
  • Experience in public school administration, public administration, business administration, or human resource management
  • Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted business management principles and procedures.
  • Extensive working knowledge of general office software including spreadsheets, word processing, flowcharts, and databases.
  • Knowledge of personnel and employee law, personnel policies, rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge and skills in the recruitment, selection, assignment, and evaluation of personnel.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data and demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively present information as requested.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems as a productive team member.
  • Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
  • Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates support for the Pike Road Schools Mission, Vision, and Beliefs.
  • Assists with employee planning, recruitment, selection, induction, and assignment recommendations of personnel for the school system.
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of the personnel budgets.
  • Supervises the management of application files of prospective candidates for all teaching, administrative, supervisory and support positions.
  • Supervises the screening and processing of applications of candidates in accordance with the Board's policy regarding equal opportunity employment criteria for the employment of personnel.
  • Assists with employee interviews as requested.
  • Supervises and maintains a system for personnel records of school employees to provide a comprehensive, efficient, accurate and current record of all matters pertinent to personnel.
  • Prepares and maintains statistical information on all personnel, and submits the necessary statistical reports to the Board, State Department of Education and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, or other agencies as required.
  • Supervises the communication of and compliance with governmental statutes, regulations and rules relating to personnel administration and advises other school system administrators of the provisions of the law.
  • Assists with research pertaining to personnel, studies of staff characteristics, professional standards, and other pertinent projects.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of a current policy manual for the school system and interprets existing policies and regulations as needed.
  • Assists with the development of job descriptions for new staff positions and coordinates the periodic review and revision of existing job descriptions.
  • Supervises programs of orientations and in-service education.
  • Counsels with any employee who is referred by his/her supervisor and/or who voluntarily requests an appointment.
  • Supervises procedures related to employee requests for transfers in accordance with Board policy.
  • Assists with the supervision of specific components of the fringe benefits program for certified and support personnel.
  • Assists with the recruitment, hiring and training of substitutes.
  • Assists, as requested, with the investigation of personnel regarding matters directly related to job performance and employment suitability.
  • Supervises programs of employee recognition, service awards, retirement events, and recruitment fairs.
  • Supervises procedures and activities related to the documentation, notification, and renewal schedules of employee certification, licensure, and or other required credentials.
  • Supervises programs of employee safety, wellness, and compliance with required trainings.
  • Assists with the preparations of the human resources department for accreditation reviews and/or compliance monitoring.
  • Supervises employee evaluation programs according to State Department of Education and school system procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
  • Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
  • Reports potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to appropriate administrative or supervisory personnel.
  • Responds to inquiries, requests, constructive feedback, concerns and/or complaints in a timely and positive manner.
  • Maintains and submits reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Properly uses and cares for equipment and material resources of the school system and effectively supervises and monitors others in the care, maintenance, and use of equipment and inventory.
  • Serves as needed on committees, tasks forces, or other representative bodies to assist with planning, decision-making, or reporting for the school system.
  • Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulations.
  • Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
  • Performs other job‐related duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.

EVALUATION: Job performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the State Department of Education and/or Pike Road Board of Education policy on evaluation of personnel.
