QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in a field directly relevant to the duties required of this
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in K-6 Educational Setting (public school preferred).

SALARY LEVEL: Board Approved Salary Schedule

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent Division of Instructional Services

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop a clear and thorough understanding of all aspects of this project, with emphasis on the potential of BK to maximize student achievement in math, English language arts, science, fine arts, and technology.,
  • Clearly and consistently communicate the philosophy, strategy, objectives, implementation, needs, and impact of Bright Key to all constituencies including project staff, school personnel, in-school stakeholder groups, Central Office staff, and the public at large.
  • Develop and implement effective management plans to accomplish project objectives.
  • Ensure all project operations are in compliance with U.S. Department of Education regulations, state regulations pertaining to public schools, and all policies and procedures adopted by the Dothan Board of Education for the operation of schools.
  • Identify, recruit, train, develop personnel directly employed for this project in collaboration with school-based administration.
  • Indirectly oversees all contractors engaged to assist with project implementation and evaluation, ensuring timely and efficient completion of tasks assigned to these individuals and
  • Maintain consistent contact with the Assistant Superintendent Division of Instructional Services, advising them of project progress, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Establish a process for effective expenditure of funds.
  • In collaboration with school administration approve all expenses; monitor expenditures; authorize all contracts for services associated with this project; communicate regularly with Dothan Central Office accounting personnel.
  • With the Project Developer (provided by private funding), develop and implement effective schedules for school stakeholders to become informed of and involved in Bright Key programs in their neighborhood schools.
  • Work with the elementary school Principals to facilitate collaboration and to ensure BK programs and services are developed in-sync with the signature themes assigned to each school.
  • With the Communications Specialist, design and implement effective outreach materials and methods to inform the general community and interested groups beyond Dothan of the-Bright Key model. Indirectly oversee communications developed by the Specialist with the Resource Coordinators for stakeholders within specific BK .
  • Serve as project liaison with the Evaluation Team regularly meeting to ensure communication throughout each year, and the availability and use of data for formative as well as summative purposes.
  • Directly oversee school Resource Coordinators to ensure collection input, and appropriate transmittal of data critical for rigorous assessment of-BK.
  • Write and submit/distribute progress reports
  • Represent the project and the Dothan School System at conferences pertaining to the community schools, and other national meetings related to student succ

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Thorough understanding of educational best-practice for curriculum design, implementation, and assessment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated experience in communicating effectively.
  • Visit student and adult program participants; mobility within and between schools and the Dothan City Schools Central Office.
  • Understand and follow all laws, regulations and rules that apply to the position.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
