POSITION TITLE: Library Media Specialist

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s Degree minimum with Certification in Library Science
• Working knowledge of computers and Library software applications.
• Meet all federal and state regulations.

REPORTS TO:

• Principal or Principal's designee

SUPERVISES:

• Students and assigned aides.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• See job description for TEACHER.
• Establish program objectives and plan learning experiences.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for library media management.
• Organize media and equipment to provide accessibility for users.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
• Evaluate the program and/or student progress.
• Communicate with parents/guardians, colleagues and community groups.
• Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communications.
• Maintain inventories and submit records and reports as assigned.
• Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, state and federal rules and regulations.
• Engage in personal professional growth and demonstrate professional ethics and leadership.
• Shall perform any other position related duties as assigned.
• Maintain the confidentiality of student records.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Salary and work year to be in accordance with the current applicable salary schedule.

EVALUATION:

• Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of professional Personnel.
