SIMULATIONS TECHNICIAN INTERN

OVERVIEW

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions

  1. Simulator Technical Support
    1. Daily inspections of Rocket Center equipment to maintain effective and efficient operation, safety, and appearance. Equipment includes but is not limited to:
      • Technical
      • Hydraulic
      • Electro-mechanical
      • Pneumatic
      • Audio / Visual
      • Computer Peripherals
      • Robotics
        1. Repair/Modification of Computer Hardware, Software, and networking.
        2. Ensure the accurate and timely completion of Rocket Center leadership requests.
        3. Completion of Documentation related to job activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Level of Supervision: None

Travel Required: no

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion or pursuit of a 2-year technical degree in electronics (Industrial Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or similar degree). Software programming languages and other job-related technical/mechanical experience will be considered.

Required Experience

  • Must have the ability to use the tools, equipment, and materials of this job profession effectively and safely.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Prefer employment experience in troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electronic and Electro-mechanical devices.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements

  • Walking and climbing (stairs, ladders) to access work-related areas.
  • Pushing, carrying, and lifting equipment weighing up to 50 pounds to waist height.
  • Bending, kneeling, and reaching to maintain and repair simulators and exhibits.
  • Sight, reading, wrist movements, feeling to inspect, maintain, and repair simulators and exhibits, to operate tools of the trade.
  • Talking, and hearing to communicate with employees, guests, and contractors regarding simulators and exhibits.
  • Comfortable working at heights of up to 50 feet.

Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental Factors

  • This position involves working indoors in a climate-controlled building environment, as well as working in the elements of the outdoors. Work areas are subject to dust, noise, and hazards related to the profession.

Expected Hours of Work

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours. We support camp operations.
  • Up to 32-40 hours per week (typically between 6 am-10 pm)
