Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Residential Life and Housing, and working collaboratively with the Director of Facilities Management, the Associate Director of Housing Operations will establish and administer short and long-range plans to maintain the daily operations of housing facilities, assess student housing operation trends, benchmark information against peer institutions and the local market, provide reports, analyze data, and provide actionable advice using analytics and processional expertise. The Associate Director of Housing Operations will set the tone for coordinating repairs with Facilities Management, scheduling residence halls for the summer flip, ensuring accurate inventory of furniture, and coordinating summer conference housing requests. This position is responsible for ensuring residential facilities align with the student's academic experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set expectations with Facilities Management related to the upkeep and operation of the Residence Halls.
  • Follow up with Facilities Management to resolve custodial, maintenance, or HVAC related issues or problems.
  • Develop, manage and supervise all aspects of housing operations management to include facility maintenance requests, space conditions, annual-quarter-semester damage reporting, and inventory.
  • Implement, utilize and maintain systems and processes required to support facility operations to enhance the student living experience within the halls.
  • Work with several key units within the University, (e.g., Maintenance, Custodial, Engineers, Environmental Health and Safety, Public Safety, etc.), to achieve strong relationships.
  • Administer process for work order completion by utilizing work order software. Follow up on work orders which need further investigation by communicating with Facilities Management.
  • Work with the Director of Residential Life and Housing on policies and procedures related to conference housing, move-in, and technology implementation.
  • Serve as the main housing operations deputy to the Director of Residential Life and Housing, and member of the central staff leadership team for University Housing. May be called upon to assist staff in tasks related to occupancy management of residence halls.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with other Campus Services departments as needed.
  • Develop long-term/multi-year preventative maintenance and renovation schedules.
  • Evaluate the use of resources to improve efficiencies; defining priorities of work and communicating to staff involved; scheduling, assigning, and monitoring and making period inspections of work completed.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years progressively residential facilities experience, residence life, and a strong background in building collaborative relationships.
  • Preferred skills in Banner Software, CBORD, or related software is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Outstanding organizational, planning, communication, training, and human relation skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

The salary for each position is based on the grade/tier in which the position is placed, and the salary within the grade/tier is based on the number of years of related experience or number of years in the hiring rank.
