Summary:
The position will work on the Excellence in Research grant in the Food Biotechnology lab. This position will study the regulation of the lipid biosynthetic pathway in Yarrowia lipolytica.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform research in food biotechnology, particularly in lipid biochemistry and molecular biology. Manage the Food Biotechnology lab and train and supervise undergraduate and graduate students. Responsible for maintaining microbial stock cultures, keeping inventory of microbial strains and reagents, placing orders for reagents, maintaining lab instrumentation, etc.
Knowledge: Biochemistryand molecular biology of lipids. Knowledge of enzymology and is preferred.
Skills: Microbial cultivation, molecular biology techniques (e.g., genetic manipulations). Analytical techniques (e.g., thin-layer chromatography, gas chromatography). Scientific writing (e.g., manuscripts, proposals)
Abilities:Ability to work independently, design and perform experiments, analyze and evaluate experimental data.
