1.1The basic function of the Project Engineer is to provide technical engineering information to the Superintendent and Project Manager to insureconstructionworkcomplieswithallengineeringstandards,codes, and specifications.
2.0 REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS2.1TheProjectEngineerreportstoandisdirectlyaccountabletotheProject Manager.
3.0 REQUIREMENTS3.1Education
3.1.1Required:BachelorsDegreeinCivilEngineeringorrelatedfield, or equivalent technical training and related experience.
3.1.2Preferred:BachelorsDegreeinCivilEngineering.

3.3.2Preferred:3yearsexperienceinconstruction.
3.4Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
3.4.1Positionrequiresadvancedcomputer skills.
3.4.2Aworkingknowledgeofconstructionequipmentandtechniques, drawing and specifications.
3.4.3Knowledgeofbuildingmaterialandrequiredstandardsapplicable to discipline.
3.4.4Theabilitytoperformmathematicalcalculationeithermanuallyor with calculator.
3.4.5Theabilitytoassumeresponsibilityandcommunicateeffectively with others.
3.5Physical Requirements
3.5.1The physical requirements may be stressful even though a majority of the time is sitting. Occasional on site inspections will require walking, climbing ladders and stairs. Body movements of turning the head and torso, bending and flexing the arms, wrists, andfingersarerequired.Thesensesrequiredarebeingabletosee and hear and having full power of speech.

4.0 WORKING CONDITIONS4.1Work will be in a climate-controlled office approximately half the time with the other half spent in the field. Workdays will typically be from 8 to 10 hoursperdaywithsomeearlymorningorlateeveningmeetingsanddeadlines.
5.0 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS5.1Interpretblueprints/drawingsforinstalling materials.
5.2Researchandresolveblueprint/drawingsinterpretationproblemsand errors.
5.3Preparefielddesignchangerequisitionsand"asbuilt"drawings.
5.4Prepareallrequireddocumentationrecordssuchasstatusreports,punch lists, sketches of work already done, material requirement calculations, etc.
5.5Presentblueprint/drawingdiscrepanciestoProjectManagerand Superintendent for resolution.
5.6Preparedocumentssuch asPurchase Orders,ChangeOrders,etc.
5.7PerformadditionalassignmentsasrequestedbytheProjectManager.
6.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES6.1Superviseandadminister fieldlayoutandsurveyingactivities.
6.2Reviewandissuevaliddrawingsandotherengineeringdocumentstofield staff.
6.3Insure all primary, secondary and layout control data comply with engineeringstandardsandaresubmittedtodraftingforon-sitedetailing.
6.4Issue,editandmaintainallfieldengineeringbooks,records,etc., according to project procedures.
6.5Insureallconcreteinspections,sign-offs,etc.,arecompleteandcomply with procedures.
6.6Maintaincontrolofallsurveyingequipment;Ensurepropercare, calibration, documentation, etc., is maintained.
6.7Performadditionalassignmentspersupervisor'sdirection.
7.0 MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE7.1Accuratelyinterpretsblueprints/drawings.
7.2Researchesandresolvesproblemsanderrorsinblueprints/drawings.
7.3Correctlyprepareschangerequisitionsand"asbuilt" drawings.
7.4Preparesrequired documentsinaprofessionaland timelymanner.
7.5PresentsblueprintdiscrepanciestoProjectManagerandSuperintendent.
7.6PerformsadditionaldutiesasrequestedbyProjectManager.
7.7Accuratelyandtimelymaintainsdocumentcontrollogs.
