Description

The Design and Production Support Engineer will work in close collaboration with both the Design and the Production Engineering Departments to actively contribute to the development of novel products and the corresponding production methodologies. The position will help streamline our processes from the design stage to production. Success in this position will require the individual to maintain a high level of knowledge on a diverse range of products and processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• In coordination with a Design Engineer and Management, design products according to customer specifications utilizing Catia CAD software.
• In coordination with a Production Engineer and Management, define process workflows that minimize the total labor and material costs.
• Read and understand schematic drawings.
• In coordination with a Production Engineer and Management, document the design and manufacturing processes utilizing MS Office and other digital / physical programs.
• Effectively convey information through written and spoken communication to ensure clear comprehension of the design by both production teams and customers.
• Examine, compose, and comprehend documented production procedures.
• Productively work with every level of the organization.
• Identify and address production-related concerns.
• Implement an operational knowledge of common manufacturing best practices.
• Use safe practices and methods to handle products heavier than 50 pounds.
• Notify supervisor or manager of any potential safety hazards.
• Sustain regular, reliable and punctual attendance.
• Perform other tasks and duties as required by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Combination of formal training and work experience in relevant technical field
• Proficient in MS Office programs
• Mechanical ability and experience with common manufacturing equipment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience working within a structured process workflow

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Science, or other relevant technical degree

• Experience working in a job shop environment
• Experience training others in a manufacturing environment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time while working on a computer
• Ability to use manual dexterity for keyboarding, writing, and operating office equipment
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and through written correspondence
• Comfortable working around industrial equipment
• Ability to stand and walk, as well as push, pull, squat, bend, stoop and reach during shifts
• Ability to push/ pull and lift/carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds
